I get emails daily asking how did I do it, how did I build a successful MommyBlog and such a cool online Magazine so fast. I wish I could say that I am a brilliant chick who has all the secrets.
I’m not. I am just your average mom who types while nursing the baby, between diaper changes and after football practice. I drink coffee by the gallon and I dream of one day getting a housekeeper. Honestly, I just did one thing on the road to bloggy fame.
I read ProBlogger. I studied it all. I took the advice and I worked and worked and worked. Darren, aka ProBlogger, is the best thing that ever happened to bloggers. If you aren’t familiar with him, you should be. He is a former minister, he co-founded b5media, runs Digital Photography School, and daily teaches people all over the world exactly how to be successful online.
I use Problogger as the must read list for all the 175+ wonderful writers at Blissfully Domestic. As we prepare for the big relaunch next Tuesday I have instructed them to go read all the best of Problogger archives. If you want to know exactly how I did it, and be inspired to grow your sites, get yourself to Problogger and start studying!
Love, Alli
PS- Yes, I did ask Darren if I could place his head on a dancing body for my post. You know he’s a great guy. His response? "You Bet".
PSS- Ok, Remember the Hot Blogger Calendar contest I mentioned last week? I was not going to ask for votes, until something happened. The man formerly known as my husband, Mr. Smartypants, laughed out loud when I told him about it. Now I want to show him! So please go vote. Click here!
I’m a mouthy wife to a wonderful man. I’m a stay home/work everywhere mom to five young sons, step-mom to a beautiful daughter, and round-the-clock entrepreneur. I finish reports on the iPhone from the sidelines of football games, I take conference calls in the carpool line and I will never answer all my email. I am the luckiest gal ever.

HAhahAhahaah! I love it.
Off to vote!
That video cracked me up. Yeah, sounds like Darren is a good sport. I just recently purchased the book. Good luck on the contest!
I follow him on Twitter. He has great chunks of info in that short word restriction! Great info!
Voted! I love Darren’s stuff too. You just made the most of it!
You are one crazy chick. That is why I love ya. I love Pro Blogger too. He doesn’t know me, but I follow him around too. I’m totally with you on how to build a blog or magazine or business. One lesson at a time.
You RAWK girl.
BLESSINGS!
xoxo
First of all, using Darren’t head was hysterical!! LOL! I can always count on you for a laugh. Secondly, tell Mr. Smartypants that I voted for you!!
I will definitely vote for you now that you ratted out Mr. Smartypants! :) Thanks for the tip, I was wondering how you did it…I
Will have to start following Darren on Twitter, thanks Reynie!
While I think ProBlogger is very intelligent and great advice for those seeking advice, not every mommy blogger on the web wants to turn their blog into a business. Some write for the sheer love of writing and to have a creative outlet.
Voted for you & Darren.
Congrats on your success–and I agree, Problogger is a valuable resource, provided you get used to the constant linking to different articles. It can be very difficult to follow a linear argument on that site.
And while it is true that not everyone writing a blog wants to turn it into a business, there is nothing wrong with the impulse to do so. We should celebrate this entrepreneurial spirit, IMO!
Problogger is a great resource, thanks and Happy Birthday!
That was awesome! just what I needed tonight.
LOL – LOVE the JibJab. Darren is definitely a good sort (and a good sport). I love reading his material. :)
Went to vote for you, and saw soooo many other ladies I like to read….but still voted for you >;-)
even if you don’t want to make a buck with your blog, problogger.net is still a must read. Darren gives great advice from how to build community to writing great post titles. thanks, Darren. your blog is THE BOMB. yeah, I said it :)
I don’t believe you! I think that you’re just a multi-million dollar corporation hiding behind a mom with kids. Show us the real Fussy, not just the photoshopped one!
We want Fussy!
We want Fussy!
All kidding aside, good job doing what you do. I’m constantly amazed at what you pull off (not on your own strength :) ) and look forward to what you have to come.
loyalty (to those who helped you “get there”) and laughter (plus hard work) is a winning formula for you and an inspiration for the rest of us.. even if, as one commenter said, oen does not want to make money….
Here’s to love and money – you got my vogte
Voted for you….
