My Christmas Cards- Keeping it real….real messy.

Three years ago I gave up on the ‘perfect Christmas card picture’. You know the one where everyone is smiling and happy? Yeah, not so much.  We just have way too many kids to get everyone to smile.  I used to make my step-daughter a nervous wreck and at least one of my sons cry after demanding a good picture. It was not my finest moment y’all.

Now, we keep it real on our cards.  We are messy and silly and those boys rarely wear socks. So I gave up on the image of having it all together and embraced the ‘real us’ s for our cards.

It all started with this-

Christmas card

Since then we have added two fantastic little guys to the family and I can’t wait to capture our wild gang for the 2009 oh-so-very-official portrait.

Why am I reminiscing? Blissfully Domestic is hosting a wonderful giveaway with Creative Memories and readers are able to upload a holiday picture to enter to win a holiday prize package.

What about your family? How do you do your holiday pictures? I would love to hear. And if you want to join in, please add yours to the comment section at Blissfully Domestic. I love every one’s pictures, especially the fun snapshots.

Don’t tell me I’m the only one who can’t get her sons to wear socks…..

Socks are overrated.

And why, why, why does someone always end up in tears for the Christmas picture? If it isn’t one of the kids, it’s me!

I haven’t tackled a picture for this year — don’t know honestly if I can make it happen. I’ll probably get the bug to do one December 23rd. That’s how I work!

I sure love getting pictures every year though. I’m a dork and have a CM album dedicated to Christmas. It’s fun to see everyone’s kids as they grow!

That is one of the most wonderful Christmas cards I’ve ever seen. It looks like a happy, loving, REAL family.

I hate socks too! Who needs em? I love that you sent that card out. Very honest!

I’m not a fan posing, so this I really like. Each member has it’s own personality and shows it on a picture, yet all of you look so nice together. Great pic.

I gave up on the whole Christmas card thing when Bri was 9 months old. Ours would probably be Bri posing, Jimmy with no pants and my hubby screaming at them while I’m holding a strong drink.

My Christmas cards always have cheesy pics of the kids– But, I figure my parents and relatives would rather see my little hamballs than perfectly poised children. :)

My wife and I don’t yet have kids so we’re still confined to the store bought, non-custom variety of greeting cards. I can’t, however, wait for the time when we can do sily things with our kids and share those moments with our friends and family.
