BlissDom

Red Rubber Ball

We are always looking for the answer.

The magic formula to guarantee success.

Blogging. Parenting. Business. Life.

Many hoped for the blueprint for exactly how to be a successful blogger last week.

It doesn’t exist in the way we thought it did.

Sure, we can all google terms and read ProBlogger, but what really makes us successful?

Three readers who get us? Three million who stop by?

Three readers who love us are just as meaningful as three million.

Personal bloggers are telling their stories everyday and creating a legacy.

There is no secret formula except heart.

Personal blogging isn’t numbers and RSS feeds, it is all about the heart.

Kevin reminded me why I fell in love with blogging so long ago.

If you have yet to discover this amazing man, please take a moment to get to know him. We were honored to have him give the opening Keynote this year.

He reminded me that it is OK to dream big audacious ridiculous dreams’.

It really is all about the love.

Blogging. Parenting. Business. Life.

That *is* the magic formula.

We opened with this little movie. All the women were told to turn on their cameras and say what BlissDom is to them. At the opening session Barbara Jones and I listened to the video from backstage. We held hands in nervous excitement.

BlissDom was a celebration of every woman in attendance.

My first words on stage were, “Do you feel loved?”

Six months of planning was there in front of me. 500 amazing women who had worked so hard to be there.

I tried not to cry.

As always, I wore my heart on my sleeve. I can only be who I am.

I planned on coming home and relaxing, planning some boundaries, and starting a new blog I’ve been planning for months. I’m not there just yet. The combination of exhaustion, post-conference deadlines, mommy-guilt, and catch up has me chasing my proverbial tail.

4352496678 4de4f8bba3 o Serendipiditous Awesomeness. My BlissDom story.I never know how to write about events. How do I do it justice? I am unable to share the magic that was 500 strong, beautiful, loving, brilliant women that filled the Presidential Ballroom last week. They are sharing their stories, their passions, and their experiences in their own way.

They have said it beautifully. They continue to tell their stories. They continue to grow and connect.

I stay up late at night in my quiet house watching the #BlissDom stream of tweets. I follow the links and read the words. Words that wrap around me and are a precious gift.

The story of BlissDom 2010 will be told in the words of these beautiful women.

Every post is a gift. I read them all with gratitude. I rarely comment (I know, I’m awful) but I read every word.

For almost three years I have played online. I tried new things, I had fun, I made mistakes, I failed often and I always kept going.  I kept going because I had to. I wake up in the morning and try to create online. It is who I am.

My job is to connect wonderful people and ideas.

It so clearly clicked as I listened to Kevin speak. I am doing what I should be doing. My focus will stay on bringing women together, facilitating wonderful things, and encouraging the community of women online.

I have never been happier than when I watched the joy unfold.

4352496812 265a57c4df o Serendipiditous Awesomeness. My BlissDom story.BlissDom was big. (It will not get bigger!) It was big but friendly.

I dreamed of a weekend where women, all very different, would come together and embrace each other as individuals. The labels that so often stop us from getting to know each other would be put aside.

I am so proud of the warmth of the group as they greeted each other.

It was a joy to watch.

It was just love.

I will write more soon. I will share what I learned about community, myself and the power of our voices online.

BlissDom is the ultimate facilitator of serendipitous awesomeness.

I am forever changed and so very grateful.

Remembering 2009 with a happy heart…

January 1, 2010

I often talk of my love affair with the Internet. It is a magical portal that throws doors of opportunity open that were once closed. The Internet connects people who so often would never have a chance to meet or get to know each other. The things that so often keep us apart, be they [...]

Where in the world is Mrs. Fussypants?

Funny Questions that arrived in my email over the past few days-
1) Are you sick? Why aren’t you posting?
Not sick, just slammed. Finishing book, preparing massive relaunch of Blissfully Domestic, planning for BlissDom has taken over my life. Between this and family life, I barely have time to think. I’m playing catch up and next [...]

Blissful Brainstorming…more of that silly “community stuff” on the web.

July 2, 2009

And again, I give you a picture for no good reason other than it makes me giggle. We do post family friendly LOLs on Blissfully Domestic LoL by the way. Mostly because I can’t let my boys look at the main Icanhazcheeseburger.com site because of the sidebar ads. Ack, awful. However the LoL guys let [...]

It’s not your Traffic, it’s your Voice

October 25, 2008

This is the beginning of the BlissDom Series. How can I properly describe how mind blowingly amazing BlissDom was? I’ve spent the week digesting everything I learned. It’s important that I share my personal thoughts, my memories, but also, what I learned business wise. It would be impossible to share it only once.
BlissDom was like [...]
