Rave Reviews of the Smart Girl’s Guide

“As someone who’s often educating companies and individuals about how to use Twitter, I find that Alli’s book conveys the whole process in an easy, understandable and straightforward manner using a witty, conversational tone. She cuts through the chaos and gives you what you really need to know (or not) and tells it like it is. Any level Twitter user will learn something from this book. Alli is a master sensei of the Twitter dojo.”

-Barbara Jones

“Alli Worthington provides amazing insight into what you need to know to use and make the most out of Twitter. Like her presence on Twitter and in social media, she infuses all that advice with her endearing spirit, joy, enthusiasm and soul. This is a must-read for anyone who wants to not just use Twitter, but who wants to get Twitter.”

-Kelby Carr

One of the things Allison Worthington is best at is connecting with people. In her book, The Smart Girls Guide To Twitter, she makes it easy for the rest of us to understand how to make the same meaningful connections and how to maintain those connections over time. A quick and fun read, this book is great for novices and experts alike, and people like me in who fall somewhere in the middle. I thought I knew it all but her book gave me a lot of new ideas and tips on how to increase my following. Loved it!

-Mary Anne Beasley

“If you’re wondering how to make Twitter as ‘awesome’ as all your friends say it is, but you don’t know where to start? Allison Worthington’s new book is your secret weapon! Read it, practice it, and get your girlfriend on – because you’re about to become one of those ‘Twitter addicts’ and you’ll love every second of it. You couldn’t have a better tour guide to the Twitter village than Alli – she’s everyone’s kind of Twitterati – the girlfriend you want to hang with because she knows all the best people, insider secrets, and hot tips!”

-Lucretia M. Pruitt

“Everything Alli puts her mind to is blissfully successful. I think her secret is how much she cares about people and how hard she works to make sure that each bit is right.”

-Liz Strauss

Allison Worthington has created a guide for Twitter that is useful for geeks and non-geeks. Worthington’s practical tips and friendly tone make this e-book perfect for your grandmother who just created a Twitter account and your tech savvy co-worker who wants to know more about Twitter. I didn’t think one e-book could appeal to Twitter newbies and the hard-core Twitter user, but this book does the job.

Where is Alii?

Funny Questions that arrived in my email over the past few days-

1) Are you sick? Why aren’t you posting?

Not sick, just slammed. Finishing book, preparing massive relaunch of Blissfully Domestic, planning for BlissDom has taken over my life. Between this and family life, I barely have time to think. I’m playing catch up and next week will have room to breathe.

2) When is BlissDom?

BlissDom, otherwise known as the best chick’s event ever, will be February 4th – 6th. Save the date and sign up for updates on the conference site.  No more details yet. To avoid the flood of attendees, speakers, sponsors before we are ready, Barbara and I are carefully releasing details. BlissDom Alumnae and Blissfully Domestic writers will be given special VIP registration before the public. The BlissDom mailing list and One2One Network members will also receive special registration opportunities before the public.

Sorry to be so cryptic, we want to make sure it is all done perfectly. Just know it is February and will be fabulous.

The conference will be a wee bit bigger, however, Barbara and I are planning the event strategically to keep that intimate feel. So many of us have such an emotional attachment to the event, attendees and speakers alike, that keeping the special feel and loving vibe are very important.

BlissDom is all about community, finding your blogging bliss (your voice), and building real connections with other fabulous women. That will never, ever change, I promise.

3) Can I speak?

We will soon send out the BlissDom survey to the mailing list members. After that we will be accepting proposals for topics and speakers.

4) Are you done with the Twitter book yet?

Almost! I keep adding things. You know how ebooks often are full of filler and disappointing? Yeah, not this one. It has been four months in the making and I am so pleased. My mom and grandma are testing the beginner section now. If they can get it, only using the book, then I am ready to launch.  I’m waiting til they show me their “neato” custom tweetdeck search columns for tracking hurricanes and grocery coupons. My opus will be complete. :)

4) Why do you think an ebook is a good thing. Why not a real book?

I was approached during and after Blogher about that. It comes down to business. The book is full of colorful diagrams, screenshots and step by step tutorials. The cost in stores would be high because of the nature of the project.

Also, with all my projects, I give to a charity. I will be giving 10% of all sales to Compassion. Their work with many of my friends opened my eyes to the plight of children living in poverty worldwide. If you are not yet a sponsor, I urge you to check out their work.

5)Which episode of Seinfeld was your favorite?

Ok, so no one asked. I just can’t help but laugh. Anyone who calls me hears me answer the phone with, “Hellllooooooo.” Now you all know why.

6) Why don’t you say something about the MommyBlogger drama? Do you care?

It’s all been said. Any more comments would just cause more pain and drama. It just makes me sad.

hate sandcastles 3 300x199 Where in the world is Mrs. Fussypants?

And, yes, I am keeping a very close eye on it all.

7) Is Blissfully Domestic accepting new writers?

Yep. Please drop us a quick note here.

8 ) Will you please be so kind as to help my brother get 30 million out of the first bank of Nairobi, and give me your credit card number for assistance?

No.

Do these ever work?

I think I covered it all. My email is out of control. If you have emailed and I have not replied, it’s not you. It’s me. Seriously. :)

What else, Y’all, what is on YOUR mind?

Perspective…

July 27, 2009

I flew home today from Chicago with memories of laughter, silliness and hugs. I daydreamed about the pictures I would steal from my friends’ flickr accounts and jokes to share. I have lots of stories of me getting lost,  putting my foot in my mouth and random good times.
Mr. Smartypants and I tucked the boys [...]

July 22, 2009

I meant to post six million times. I’ve been to Boston and Dallas in the last week, and today I am off to Chicago for BlogHer. I promise fabulous (at least to me. *snort*) posts are coming.
You can catch up with me on that little tab on the left side on the site. It will [...]

July 13, 2009

Y’all know of my passionate love affair with Twitter. I have been goofing around with blogging and Twitter for two years and owe so much of my career to my friendships that began on Twitter.
Twitter is the ultimate icebreaker. Not only did I build a huge professional network, I built community and many loving friendships.

Fight the Frump: Lovely Lashes.

June 19, 2009

Mascara, along with blush, is so often misused and abused. Lip gloss and powder can be put on by a carload of circus clowns and you can get away with it. But bless your heart, honey, you can. not. be walking around town with chocolate cake crumbs on your lashes.

Ok, there was no good reason [...]

Tweetdeck Mountain: How twitter is slowly killing my blog…

June 11, 2009

It all started with this tweet…

Because seriously, it has. I started blogging for the community of fab women, not because I have a desire to be a writer. Writing well is a gift that God bestows on some and I write very much like I sing. And, honey, when I sing- I make cats cry.
I [...]
